Monthly Newsletter – February 2012

COHAA would like to invite you to continue this strong partnership with COHAA by participating in three exciting events in February..

COHAA/IIBA Feb LIG- Your Project’s Legacy
People in the Application Development world tend to forget what every CIO knows; It costs more to maintain an application than build it. At some point your project will end (by definition a project must have an end), and the maintenance team will take over. In an Agile world where working software is valued more than comprehensive documentation, how does a BA make sure to leave the maintenance team enough information to maintain and enhance the application they just built?

Date: 2/17/12
Time: 7:00 – 8:30 AM
Cost: (Free) Including Breakfast
Location: Cardinal Solutions, 401 N. Front St Ste 210, Columbus, Ohio 43215

Building Agile Skills
With adoption of agile increasing every day the movement has a big obstacle in front of it: How do we best transform thousands of people. Let’s discuss what works best:
•Training
•Self-Learning
•Boot Camps
•On the Job Training
•etc.
This session will be an interactive discussion with several facilitator-led activities to ensure we have a productive discussion.

Time: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Date: 2/22/12
Cost: Free (Including Dinner)
Location: Platform Lab 1275 Kinnear Road Columbus, OH 43212

Measuring Productivity Across Agile Teams
The most important IT project in your company’s history is coming up, and you need to assign it to your best Agile team, how do you figure out which team it is? Or maybe your just deciding how to pass out year-end bonuses, how do you tell which teams performed the best? For one reason or another, any company with multiple Agile teams will at some point want to compare those teams to see which teams are being more productive. How do you measure a team’s productivity? Can you measure a team’s productivity? We will explore these questions and more at this upcoming Agile Lunchbox in a “Fishbowl Panel”.

Date: 2/29
Time: 11:30m – 1:00pm
Cost: Free (Including Lunch)
Location: OCLC, 6565 Kilgour Place, Dublin, OH 43017

The Step by Step Guide to Building Effective Agile Development Processes

According to Forrester Research, “It’s time for software development professionals to stop sitting on the fence where Agile is concerned.” But, with so many failed efforts, IT managers and developer leaders are reluctant to try again and build an Agile development process without an effective plan and processes. In this webinar, Typemock’s Product Manager, Gil Zilberfeld, will provide a roadmap to building effective Agile Development Processes, including:

• How do I get started? Building an Agile Strategy
• Scrum is not enough: XP isn’t just a version of Windows
• Basic Communication & Feedback Practices
• Three Times a Charm: Refactoring, Unit Tests, Continuous Integration
• How Not to Fail: What Not To Do
