Day in The Life Tour- American Electric Power (AEP) – Free Premiere Member Event!

Join COHAA for a Day in a Life Tour at AEP. Hear from AEP’s PMO leaders and Agile practitioners about their Agile implementation and strategy. Learn about the pilot projects in flight, the practices they have adopted, their next steps, and key learnings from their Agile adoption. The session will include a tour of AEP’s agile workspace and a demonstration of the tools they are piloting for distributed team members.

James P Brosnahan – Manager, IT PMO
Jim Brosnahan is currently leading an initiative around adoption of Agile at American Electric Power (AEP). The AEP software application development approach has been ruled by waterfall and the organization is actively exploring both agile and iterative approaches. Jim presently is a manager in the Program Management Office and works with a dedicated team on improvements to the work environment and processes through improvements to project management and portfolio planning.

Jim has over 20 years of IT experience in the Electrical Utilities industry as a developer, project manager and manager. He has a B.S. degree in Computer Science from the University of Dayton and is PMP certified. He is a recovering waterfall project manager.

Robyn Keys – Business Systems Analyst, IT PMO
Robyn is presently working on a team in the Program Management Office to develop and implement IT methodology/process improvements. Robyn is the Product Owner of an Epic for the PMO to develop an action plan in furthering the use of the Agile practices at American Electric Power (AEP). Robyn was the BSA on an Agile pilot project at AEP in 2009 and 2010.

Robyn has over 12 years of IT experience as a developer and business systems analyst. She has a B.A. degree in Computer Information Systems from Catawba College in Salisbury, NC.

Dick Mills – Manager, IT Fuel,Emissions & Logistics Business Applications
Dick Mills is currently leading a support and delivery team that is piloting the adoption of Agile for the Fuels, Emissions and Logistics business area at American Electric Power (AEP). The FEL Agile initiative is focused around utilizing Agile practices across a portfolio of applications rather than just on a targeted project. The effort also includes remote users (in the Tulsa office) and has focused on tools to support a virtual team environment.

Dick has over 25 years of IT experience as a developer, contractor, and manager in the Defense and Utility industries. He has a B.S. degree in Computer Science from West Virginia University.

Happy Holidays from COHAA

Hello COHAA members,

Activity within the Central Ohio Agile Association has slowed over the past few days as we prepare to enjoy time with our loved ones over the holidays. We all need some time to relax and reflect, and the COHAA Board of Directors is doing that as we wind down the year. We have an incredibly exciting and busy 2011 planned, so now is the perfect time to recharge in anticipation of the new year.

Code PaLOUsa 2011, Louisville, KY

Code PaLOUsa is a two-day, eight-track software development conference in Louisville, KY on March 4-5, 2011 designed to cover all aspects of software development regardless of technology stack.
